Initiatives

The Penn Professional Staff Assembly (PPSA) serves the monthly paid staff community at the University of Pennsylvania.  In addition to facilitating relevant workshops and programs, promoting University Wide initiatives, and organizing networking opportunities, PPSA members represent staff in the University Governance  structure.  We serve on all University Council Committees and the Tri-Chairs serve on University Steering as well.

One of our highest priorities is to make sure that staff members have a voice on all pressing issues.  One way is to be able to serve and vote on higher level search committees.  In June 2009, the Board of Trustees passed a resolution formally allowing staff members to be involved in a consultative role when choosing a new University President.  Although this is just one step, PPSA continues to push for staff representation on all higher level search processes.

Another way is to reach across the University to meet with all constituency groups while staying connected to the current state of affairs at Penn.  PPSA meets regularly with the Faculty Senate Tri-chairs, University President (through Steering), the Undergraduate Assembly, The Graduate and Professional Staff Assembly, the Executive Vice President, the Vice President of Human Resources and the Weekly Paid Professional Staff Assembly to discuss University issues and how they may affect staff.  Whether it is benefits, recycling, facilities, financial resources, quality of work life, or co-curricular programs, PPSA Board Members work very hard to be informed and in the conversation.

If you have any issues you want the PPSA to review, please let us know.
